But the ride was definitely enjoyable.Kathy Lette is a celebrated author and outspoken comic writer who has an inimitable take on serious current issues. The ending of the novel was a little disappointing for me, although I can’t tell you why without spoilers. All of these things can turn the events on a relationship you thought was strong and stable. A malicious comment, a piece of information, a shared moment you weren’t supposed to see. But anything can change in 300 pages.įilled with sarcastic humour and raw accounts of what it means to be a woman, How to Kill Your Husband is a warning of how easily a relationship of any kind can change. One wants to kill her husband, another wants her husband to put his dirty underwear in the laundry basket, and another insists she is perfectly happy and fulfilled within her marriage. The book follows three women, long-time friends, who are each married. And so when I stumbled upon the book at the latest Lifeline Book Fair (a true wonderland for the literary enthusiast) I grinned like a Cheshire cat. I have wanted to read this book for a while but the very title struck fear into the mind of the man I lived with, and so I never read the book. Although I must warn you, that if you choose to read this book in public, it will make men uncomfortable. How to Kill your Husband (and other handy household hints) by Kathy Lette is a novel, not a how-to guide.
